Fragments of minds

Erebus is a generative artwork exploring the collision of routine and emotion, visualized through fluid, algorithm-driven patterns.

A generative artwork

How One Code Generates Endless Unique Artworks
Generative art is a unique form of digital creation where artists write code that serves as the blueprint for the artwork.

Instead of creating a single static image, the artist creates a program that generates many variations. In the case of "Erebus Fragments of Minds," one piece of code is responsible for producing multiple unique artworks, each with its own set of characteristics.

These variations are guided by random parameters embedded in the code, allowing each generated piece to have its own distinct "personality" and visual style.

365 unique artworks minted.
How Randomness Shapes Generative Art
The concept of randomness in generative art means that each iteration of the artwork is unique.

The code behind "Fragments of Minds" includes different settings, such as 'Latent State of Mind' or 'Crystallization' which alter the appearance and mood of each piece.

When someone collects a piece, these settings are randomly selected, making each artwork a rare and one-of-a-kind visual experience. It's like rolling dice within the artwork’s programmed universe; each roll brings out different visual characteristics and emotional states.

Algorithmic Foundations

This artwork is powered by an algorithm based on a flowfield structure combined with Bézier curves. A flowfield is a mathematical technique often used in generative art to create organic, fluid motion across the canvas by defining directional flows.

In this piece, the flowfield dictates the movement and direction of each line, simulating a dynamic, chaotic flow. Bézier curves, widely used in computer graphics for smooth, controlled curves, are employed here to enhance the fluidity of each line within the flowfield.

This combination results in a composition that feels both organic and meticulously crafted, echoing the balance between randomness and control that lies at the heart of generative art.

The project is visible on fxHash, where you can explore unique variations of Erebus. Each minted piece represents a one-of-a-kind creation generated by the algorithm, embodying a blend of randomness and structured design.
